Are perfume made out of fragrance oil?

If it comes from the department store, it has mostly alcohol in it with a small amount of oil-based fragrance notes. Fragrances are classified into different categories.





Perfume Oil - This is pure essential (or fragrance) oils and is very strong.


Parfum - It contains about 20% aromatic compounds.


Eau de Parfum - This contains about 15% aromatic compounds.


Eau de Toilette - This contains about 10% aromatic compounds.


Eau de Cologne - This contains about 5% aromatic compounds.


Splash or Aftershave - This contains about 1-3% aromatic compounds
