Is it safe to put fragrances such as scented oils, into a humidifier to get the scent into the room?

Probably, but I would not personally do that - I am into organic and natural things, I have a fear of chemical things!!!! I do personally use essential oils that have not had chemicals added, and that way I know I am not breathing anything harmful. You can get essential oils in almost every fragrance, orange, tuberose, sandalwood, pine, eucalyptus, lavender, too many to list, and they would all be safe to inhale as much as you want. I have severe allergies and a little asthma, so I have to stay away from the man-made stuff. Is it safe to put fragrances such as scented oils, into a humidifier to get the scent into the room?
Unless recommended by the manufacturer of the humidifier it's probably not a good idea. Some oils can cause problems with the functions of the humidifier and also clog the holes that release the steam.

Is there such thing as a gentle cleaner and cream that has no alcohol, fragrance and oils?

And that is not over the counter but commercial? Used for rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis skin? Dove soap for sensitive works wonders but I need something else too please. Just to let you know I have tried Cetaphil cleanser and cream I broke out. I also tried Eucerin and broke out. Is it because I am using way too much?? And if it still does leave my skin VERY red and splotchy is that healthy because isn't it extracting the rosacea from my skin?? Thanks!! =)Is there such thing as a gentle cleaner and cream that has no alcohol, fragrance and oils?
Aveeno is a very good option. It sounds like you need some additional prescription treatments, since you did not mention that you were taking anything, to treat your rosacea. There are now some very effective options: Plexion cleanser is very good, as are the topical treatments Finacea and Nicomide-T. You may be using too much moisturizer if it's making you break out, but not all skin really needs moisturizer, especially if your skin is oily.

You can try Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleanser -- it does not contain alcohol or oil, but it does contain a small amount of fragrance (essentially just enough for masking the smell of the other ingredients) -- you can tell how much of something is in a product by the order in which it's listed on the ingredient label. You can also try Basis Sensitive Skin Bar; it does contain almond oil and a trace amount of lanolin alcohol, but it is designed for sensitive skin, and is very well reviewed on drugstore.com by users. If you skin is oily, choose the Neutorgena; if your skin is dry/normal, choose, the Basis Sensitive Skin Bar.Is there such thing as a gentle cleaner and cream that has no alcohol, fragrance and oils?
I also have a very sensitive skin. I only wash with Aqueous cream ( hypo allergenic and fragrance free)

And I only use Bio Oil on my face and neck area. At first I didn't think that it was working well, but I really saw a difference in two weeks time.

Oh, and please drink lots of water.
All lotions and creams (even natural ones) will have alcohol in it. Its because w/o it the cream would never completely rub in. You need a little alcohol to evaporate the wetness on your skin. I would try a vitamin e cream. Sold at most health food stores. Also try taking vitamin e is does wonders for your skin. Also I would use a natural soap. Dove sensitive is not gentle enough for my dry skin and cause my eggsama to break out. Try a natural oatmeal, glycerin, or olive oil soap. also found at health food stores.
Aveeno is good for sensitive skin and makes cremes for extra dry or itchy skin

Where can I buy fragrances or oils that smell like black licorice?

I heard the scent of black licorice attracts women. I searched the internet and can't find any stores that sell this. Anyone know?Where can I buy fragrances or oils that smell like black licorice?
The only cologne that I know of with black licorice in it is by Lolita Lempika which has licorice and vanilla in it. It actually smells really nice and you should be able to find it at Sephora, Nordstroms or maybe online.Where can I buy fragrances or oils that smell like black licorice?
you can always try a oil that smells like it such as sandel wood
Patchoulie is the scent that comes to mind and most incense stores and possibly Pier One sell it..
Anise is the spice you are looking for. I know you can find it at health food stores, but I don't know if it will come in a fragrance. Maybe you could make one for yourself.
Maybe the body shop, they have lots of oils. I don't think it would attract women though, maybe just make them hungry for candy, haha.
Did you try any herb stores? You may even have to search on the web.
I think that I would run the other way if I smelt a guy that smelt like black licorice. Now red would be a different story!! =) I wouldn't recommend it..sorry!!

  • What are the best sites to purchase Candle Fragrance Oils?

I am going to do homemade candles this Christmas for friends and family. I need a good website to purchase fragrance oils to scent my candles. I am not going to be making mass quantities of candles so I am trying to find a site that has good deals on small quantities. I've been to about 20 different sites I found using Google but I don't know anything about the sites and if the fragrance oils are any good.

creativeilluminations.com had the best deal I found. Their sample packs are on sale for $9 dollars instead of the usual $20. This means I could get ten 1oz bottles for $9, but I do not know anything about their product or their site reputation so if anyone has dealt with them and their fragrance oils please let me know what you thought.

Also any recommendations on sites with good quality scents at affordable prices would be appreciated. Thanks! What are the best sites to purchase Candle Fragrance Oils?
brighterscents.com and creativeilluminations.com seem to be one in the same i have bought from both and i have been very happy with the results from both . i have been making gel wax candles for a few years now, and getting your scents from a hobby store just doesn't cut it they only carry a few scents and they are over priced.

Is it true fragrance oils can actually relieve stress and Anxiety?

I've been trying to research ways to bring peace into my life, and I keep coming across sites claiming these fragrance oils can ease tension, stress and anxiety, and calm you. I need to know if its a waste of money, or if it actually works, because these oils are not cheap. I have been really stressed out, and am always having constant headaches because of it. (My fiance passed away in April, and my step dad passed away in May, SO my life has been torn down, Im trying ANYTHING to bring a little peace.) Does anyone know if these fragrance oils work, or anything else that works to reduce stress, and calm you? Thanks for the help.Is it true fragrance oils can actually relieve stress and Anxiety?
I don't know about the oils but candles always made me feel better, they are cheaper too. Of course I am always on quite a lot of medication too. You know sometimes people need a bit of medical help with grief. When my grandmother died the doctor gave my grandfather lexipro. It doesn't have to be a permanent thing. I am very sorry for your troubles.

Essential Oils Can Be Used As a Natural Antibacterial

    http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articl鈥?/a>Uses for fragrance oils?
Definitely. Essential oils are the natural counterpart for perfumes. They are the used as the main component for aromatherapy and is often times combined with other ingredients like bath salts to add aromatherapy to these products.
I know that my sister in law had bought some oils in Italy and rubs some on her light bulbs throughout her home. So when you turn on the lights it heats it up and smells so good.
You can use a drop of frangrant oil on your light bulbs. It will make the whole room smell great. Be careful though, one drop is enough.

    Fragrance oils?

I have an oil that I like a lot..the brand is Claire Burke..I'm starting to get into candle making and was wondering if it would be safe to use this fragrance in a candle..I know that things can suddenly burst into flames without warning so I obviously don't want that to happen..so is it safe to use this or should I just stick strictly to fragrance oils made for candles??

In case you don't know what I'm talking about here is a link to a picture..it's not the same fragrance but I don't think that really makes a difference..Please help if you can..thxx =DFragrance oils?
You are best to stick to oils made for use in candles

What is most important is the flash point of the oil or the

temperature at which it will ignite. You may be able to check with the company that makes the oil you like to find out if it can be used in candles , if not, check with companies that supply candle making oils to see if they have A fragrance similar to that oil.

Can I use essential oils in one of those fragrance diffusers?

The ones that have the oil holder then the candle underneath? Or do you have to use a special kind of oil, the home fragrance oils that you buy at like Bath and Body? Can I use essential oils in one of those fragrance diffusers?
What you describe is a duftlamp. It disperses oils that are too thick for a diffusor with heat rather than an air pump.

They are intended for use with essential oils. Synthetics are known to be responsible for a myriad of health problems, from endocrine disruption to environmental because they persist in the environment.

You should add some water to the reservoir with the essential oils to keep them from burning. They should just be warmed to disperse and never burned. Can I use essential oils in one of those fragrance diffusers?
It will work best if you add a base to the essential or fragrance oil, If not, the scent will burn off quick and will not last.

    Fragrance oils?

hi can anyone tell me, on what type of clothes do fragrance oils last longer and have stonger smell?

    cotton, nylon, silk etc.

it seems to me that blended oils are stronger on cotton clothes and single scents are stronger on synthetic materials.

    would like other views.

    thanksFragrance oils?
i think that cottons and hemp absorb and retain essential oils more than polyester or other synthetic materials...

it probably depends on the oil that you're using.. if the base of the oil is vegetable-based it will wash out of clothing easier... (these are your usual cheap fragrance oils)

if the base of the oil is made from carrier oil (a combination of almond, grapeseed and jojoba) it's a higher quality oil and will stay in fabrics longer...

    good luck
    u can tell me 2
Take that worm answer up there
Oh boy did you just open up a can of worms lol.

It so depends on what you want to do with the oil you've extracted.

The oldest method is layering them with fine layers of Linseed in jars with a rock on top.

Leave for a week to set.

And than pressing the oil out of the linseed's.

If you're in a warm area of the world this works fine.

There's also the method of putting flowers or herbs directly into oil.

Just loosely fill up a jar with flowers and pour on a neutral oil to absorb the scent.

Put in a warm place for a week or 2.

Warm would be something around 25 to 30 degrees Celsius.

    No direct sunlight.

Direct sunlight is a big No.

    Specially for scents.

If you don't live in a warm area just put your jars close to the heater.

But if you want to get this right you should go to a library and dig through a pile of books.

There are some quite good books out there but mine are all in dutch so i can't advise you what books.

But several witches made good web-pages and second hand shops have good cheap books.

You can make wet pot pouri you can extract it in salves.

You can use oils and seeds.

Or you can build a small laboratory set up if you want to extract pure essential oils.

There's just so much out there and it so depends on what you want to do with them.
that top answer sounds good to me..........................

Are fragrance oils and essentail oils the same???

can both be used on skin? Are fragrance oils and essentail oils the same???
Essential oils are pure, unless it is stated on the package that it includes a carrier oil. You need to follow the directions on the packet as they may or may not be suitable for direct skin use.

Who knows what is actually in those fragrance oils? They are certainly artificial, and don't have any of the theraputic benefits of essential oils. So they are a waste of money unless you just want a fake flowery smell in your house.

Basically, you get what you pay for. If you think about the amount of rose petals required to get even the tiniest drip of essential oil, you are going to understand that a vial retailed at $2.50 is not going to be the real thing. I recommend you buy from a pharmacist or specialist shop. Are fragrance oils and essentail oils the same???
NO! Do not use essential oils

    directly on the skin!!!

    Essential oils are highly

    concentrated and need to be

cut with other oils you use as

a base. These can be used

    for massage or poultice.

    Essential oils in their original

state can be used in diffusers

or a few drops in boiling water

as steam. A few drops can

    be used in a bath.

    Different oils are used for

    different purposes.

    Fragrance oils are just that,

    used for a pleasant oder.
You need to be very careful before using essential oils directly on the skin. Some will be ok, but most you would probably need to mix with a carrier oil or add just a few drops to the bath so as to dilute them, or use in a burner. You should check the label. If there's no information on the label, check with an aromatherapy site, or ask a specific question on here about the essential oil you are thinking about using.
Fragance Oils tend to be artificle where essential oils are obtain from the real plants.

  • How to make scented fragrance home oils?

I WANT TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE THE OILS AT HOME. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH,AND I WISH I COULD MAKE THEM ON MY OWN INSTEAD OF BUYING THEMHow to make scented fragrance home oils?
You can. All you need is some oil and whatever you want it to smell like. I'd reccomend an oil that dosen't have a natural odor and isn't a cooking oil. This is what you do- take whatever you want the oil to smell like (if you want oranges, use orange peels. If you want cinnamon, use cinnamon sticks, ect.) Heat up the oil on the stove until its hot, but not boiling (pouring boiling oil over things will just cook them, and it will smell horrible). Put your materials (cinnamon sticks, ect), in a glass jar with a lid. Pour the oil over it, seal, and let sit for a few weeks in a dark place. Strain, and voila- you have scented oil.

That method also works if you want flavored oil or vinegar.

Whats the difference between Perfume & Fragrance Oils?

A fragrance oil is something you burn in a special thing (you get get them at the Body Shop) to make your room smell nice, a perfume is a smell mixed with water that you spray on yourself so that you can smell nicer. And then eau de toilette is a condensed scent in a bottle, so basically perfume without the water, which is why an eau de toilette bottle is smaller, there's more scent and it's usually stronger and you need less. I know you didn't ask that, I thought you just might like to know. :)

    Best of luck,

Or in the case of where I live we have horrible water that makes our clothes smell so all of my clothes are washed with baking soda and vinegar.

as an old fisherman I deal with fish smells all the time. a trick that was taught to me a long time ago was to take a keg of salt and dissolve it in the washing machine tub full of water . let the clothes soak for about 15 to 20 min then add your laundry soap and soak for another 15 to 20 min . then let it run through the cycle. Good luck and tight lines
    rub lemon juice on it
Use Baking Soda when you wash her clothes and that should help

Does Victoria's Secret have home fragrance oils?

  • When you are making reed diffuser oils, what kind of oils can you mix with the fragrance?

I've seen everything from coconut to olive, anyone have experience with what works best? Thanks! When you are making reed diffuser oils, what kind of oils can you mix with the fragrance?
I tend to like the nut oils like walnut and macadamia, but have also used just plain old cannola oil. You just have to be careful about how large of a container you use because some oils go rancid faster than others and give off a real icky smell when the do. You can never totally get that smell out of the reeds, either, so they are trashed. You can prolong the life of the oil by not placing it in direct sunlight or in areas where there is high heat.

Looking for fragrance similar to old Hawaiian Tropic Suntan Oil?

I am looking for a coconut-slightly floral, smells like a beach fragrance that smells like Hawaiian Tropic Suntan Oil from the 60's-70's. Please don't suggest that I wear Suntan oil; I need a ';real' fragrance. Thank you for your help.Looking for fragrance similar to old Hawaiian Tropic Suntan Oil?
Bath and Body works has a line out of Exotic Coconut. I LOVE IT!! I love to smell like sun tan lotion!! (Just not wearing it :) Stop by one of the stores and sample it, it's wonderful. Everytime I put it on, someone always says, ';Ok, who smells like a beach?'; LOL They also have a Coconut/Lime Verbena that smells tropical like.Looking for fragrance similar to old Hawaiian Tropic Suntan Oil?
The Body Shop makes the most amazing fragrance Indian Gardinia, the name will throw you off but I feel like I am wearing suntan lotion, smells just like I am at the beach. Its not strictly coconut or anything else, there is just something about it!

What is a good base recipe for whipped body butter you can mix with any fragrance or essential oils.?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2wG-_WH6鈥?/a>

pretty much any thing with shea butter in it. I whipped some shea butter recently, just make sure any recipe is mainly shea butter. I like olive oil in my recipe with some honey. Good luck

What's the difference between essential oils and oils that you burn for fragrance if you use them for burning?

I wish to buy fragrant oil for burning in my house. Is there any difference between the two in terms of therapeutic effects or others if I am concerned only with burning them? By the way, I am intending to buy them from The Body Shop. Please give me some advice. Thanks! What's the difference between essential oils and oils that you burn for fragrance if you use them for burning?
Well, actually, while it's true that essential oils come from plants and fragrance oils are synthetic creations, it's NOT true that essential oils are all safe. Clove, cinnamon and peppermint are 3 very well documented skin irritants. And work with Ylang Ylang enough and you might find yourself with one killer of a headache.

And it's also not true that essential oils come DIRECTLY from plants, either. Eucalyptus, for example, goes through a couple of different steps before it's able to be used. (That's why eucalyptus oil smells only faintly like the tree from which it's made.)

And for the record, even essential oils are nothing but chemicals. ;-)

In my opinion, ANY scent can influence your mood. Obviously, if you enjoy a scent or have pleasant memories attached to one, you're more likely to relax and enjoy your downtime. But, I also find that essential oils don't have the solvent-smell of synthetic oils. After working with natural oils for so long, I find that I can't stand the smell of potpourri oils anymore. They smell horribly fake to me. I hope that helps you make a decision. What's the difference between essential oils and oils that you burn for fragrance if you use them for burning?
Essential oils are released from plant material using steam distillation. They are used therapeutically by inhalation and topical application. Each essential oil has it's own therapeutic properties. Please don't 'burn' essential oils. They are ruined and wasted when treated with severe heat.

Fragrance oils are manufactured composites of chemicals. There are no therapeutic uses for artificial scents. There are many brands with their own recommended method of use. Just follow those guidelines.

Although The Body Shop does carry a line of products that contains pure essential oils, I am suspicious of the 'burning' as a mode of use.
Essential oils come directly from plants and flowers and they are completly safe and very useful for the skin, auromatherapy and cooking.

Fragrant oils are toxic and man made. They are essentially just chemicals.

Check out this company. The owner prides herself in only using the most high quality, naturally extracted essential oils.

By the way, The Body Shop (now owned by Estee Lauder Co.) does not use natural oils.
