Can fragrance skin oils, also be used as home burning oils?

Yes sure. Mmmmmm...smells nice in your house!!!

Are fragrance oils safe for the skin?

I mean mixed in with other things such as fragrance free lotions, shampoos etc.Are fragrance oils safe for the skin?
Yeah they should be safe but they are really concentrated so it could irritate the skin. Don't be too surprised if you get a rash.

Which lasts longer (& diffs): the same fragrance in perfume, body lotion, body cream, body oil, or body milk?

I'm a novice in the area, but I'd like to buy Dior's J'adore. However, I don't really know what the differences are (of the following) and am unsure of which one to buy: the body milk, lotion, oil or eau de parfum spray.

The fragrance is rather light (and short-lasting), so I'd like to get the most fragrance out of the product as possible! :)Which lasts longer (%26amp; diffs): the same fragrance in perfume, body lotion, body cream, body oil, or body milk?
perfume oil lasts the longest, then eau de parfum, then eau de toilette. Body lotion lasts a long time too, but not in full force, it is just a light fragrance.Which lasts longer (%26amp; diffs): the same fragrance in perfume, body lotion, body cream, body oil, or body milk?
hi im using j'dore and it is so good everyone smells me and i get compliment. its both the same perfume and lotion has the same smell ofcourse the lotion wont last compare to a perfume. but compare to oil and body milk thing the lotion is way better. dont hesitate to buy it its good.
Perfume lasts the longest.
Unfortunately with perfume its like that: the more expensive it is, the longer it lasts.

This is due to different percentage of alcohol in the fragrance. So parfume is the highest concentration of fragrance and therefore lasts the longest (and is the most expensive).

I would go for Eau de perfume, because with pure perfume oil you can easily overdo and smell like a perfume store....

Layering is also good, but if you want to save, only use the eau de parfume. Refresh every 6-8 hours with just one drop on your neck and your ankles.

http://www.perfume-select.com/jadore.htm鈥?/a>
if u want the scent to last longer, it's good to actually 'layer' it...for eg...using products from the jadore range: bathe using the shower cream, then put on the body lotion and then spray the perfume on when u go out...this way the scent will last the longest...

btw, love the jadore perfume as well...had the limited ed one with the gold dust in it...it was great..everyone kept asking abt it..:)
perfume lasts.. especially if you spray directly on the skin around the neck and chest area and behind the knees. Don't rub after spraying!
woah body milk heh heh.

Wholesale designer and traditional fragrance oils?

I am looking to purchase designer and traditonal fragrance oils wholesale? There are so many companies listed on the internet claiming to have premium oils, but its impossible to know if they have good smelling premium oils or the cheap stuff. Can you please give me the names of some reliable/reasonably priced wholesalers/suppliers that you know or have personally done business with. Serious responses only ...ThanksWholesale designer and traditional fragrance oils?
There are a number of growers and distillers in North America that produce high quality oils fulfilling the criteria of therapeutic grade.

Look for the designation ';AFNOR: or ';AFNOR-EC'; on the label. Oils that carry this fulfill European standards for essential oils. (There are no American standards as yet, but they are currently in the making.) AFNOR stands for ';Association Francaise de Normalization.'; It is a French government-approved organization. Oils that meet this criteria must regularly send samples to France for testing before they can print the ';AFNOR'; on the label.

There is only one North American company that routinely sends oil samples abroad for AFNOR testing and that is Young Living Essential Oils. In addition to meeting AFNOR standards, therapeutic grade oils must also be organically grown, unadulterated, properly distilled and packaged, which YLEO oils do.

Over 90% of the oils sold as ';essential'; in America are food or fragrance grade and unsuitable for healing purposes.

Hope this helps.Wholesale designer and traditional fragrance oils?

    Two things,

    Google

    http://www.google.pl/search?sourceid=nav鈥?/a>

include your town, country etc for better results

look on the packaging of products

    Trade fairs,

    industry web sites

    trade magazines

5 minutes on Google and you'll be able to send e-mails, probably they will have agents and reps from whom they want you to buy,

Don't say no, get quotes, and then use their quotations to benchmark against people who are not in country

the key question is how much money you intend to spend, what your budget is. if you are going to spend enough they will deal direct, but if you are a small customer they cannot be expected to deal direct...

    good luck

Oshadhi is a good brand. Their essential oils are pure and organic and often wild crafted.I prefer to use these pure oils for aromatherapy rather than a candles that have oils in them because I don't know how much of what kind of oils are in these candles.
I love the body shop ones. They are a bit pricey but they last a long time. My favorite is satsuma. All you need is a couple drops. I have never tried Yankee Candles oils... but I imagine they are great cause everything in Yankee Candles are great!

No they won't have a therapeutic affect, if you want to practice aromatherapy you need the actual essential oils. Will fragrance oils work as aromatherapy as well as essential oils?
Not as well...they irritate my sinus membranes when used for aromatherapy near the skin. Will fragrance oils work as aromatherapy as well as essential oils?
No. Fragrance oils are man-made. Essential Oils are 100% Natural. There is no such thing as Vanilla Essential Oil. If you are looking for medical, spiritual, or emotial benefits from oils, you have to get Essential Oils. If you simply want to enjoy the fragrance, you can use Fragrance or Essential Oils.

I like taking hot baths and soaking for an hour, with some essential oil added for my personal pleasure. I find the best relaxation, for me, comes from using scents I enjoy. I like essential oils, those derived from plants, as opposed to chemical scents. The few times I've bought and used fragrance oils that were not from plant sources, I found I got headaches, and the odors just didn't feel right.

As for therapeutic value... well, if the odor is disgusting or nauseating to one's personal senses, why use it?

For some people, sensitivity to synthetic odors is a major problem. I get headaches from many perfumes and scents, and tend to avoid synthetic fragrances (and people scented with such fragrances) because they make me ill.

I would use the essential oils.

How do I use essential oils for fragrance and/or vapor healing?

I just ordered orange, lavendar, peppermint and tea tree oil.

I do not want to take them internally. I am looking for ideas for baths, adding them to things, how do I vaporize them, how do I use them as scents, how do i use them for cleaning and laundry? How do I use essential oils for fragrance and/or vapor healing?
You can add a few drops of essential oils to your bath. Start with 3-5, you can add more. Adding base oil or milk as well is helpful.

You should not 'burn' eo's. Heating them to encourage their dispersion is okay. You can use an inexpensive duftlamp that uses a candle or small light bulb under a dish of water and eo's or a diffusor that uses air flow to disperse the eo's.

I do not suggest that you use essential oils in the laundry. Everyone seems to think that is a great idea, but the truth is that it is a waste of eo's. The detergent removes them from the fabric and you would need to use such a large amount, the cost is prohibitive.

Adding eo's to cleanser is a fine idea. I just make soapy water and add citrus oils or something that is aging that I would not use therapeutically.

You can add eo's to body lotion or oil. Somewhere between 3 and 15% eo's to base material.

You can visit www.eoils.net for ideas as well.

Please read about the contraindications of each eo and educate yourself before application. How do I use essential oils for fragrance and/or vapor healing?
You can add them to your bath as it is running. Otherwise try and get your hands on a scent burner. You need to get the tiny candles to go with it. You put the oils with water, about two or three drops of oil and about a dessertspoon of water in the top tray and the candle underneath it. It is lovely to scent a room this way. As for your laundry, I'm not sure you should put essential oils - you might stain something. You can however, wipe your countertops and door frames with it

Can you use dried herbs when making a fragrance from oils?

I have been blending oils for some time now, using various ingredients with alcohol. For some added depth I was hoping to add dried herbs to the bottles I store my concoctions in.

    Does this work?

Thanks for your help! Can you use dried herbs when making a fragrance from oils?
yes you can, you can make an infusion or a tincture

but why are you adding alcohol???

use an oil such as sweet almond, it is much better

and then your infusions or tinctures will be smoother and more fragrant

and when you use dried herbs, cut quantity by a third for fresh herbs as they are more potent

can i also ask what is it exactly that you are trying to make

i make a lot of things, i use all natural products i make myself, soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, lip balm, etc

but i also make rememdies, and flavoured oils

if i were using herbs i pick ones that i grow and add them, bruise them and add fresh to oil, it releases their flavour, or effect into the oil

I burn them in an oil burner, but if the concentration of oil is too high you have to mix them with water or they can burn.

Don't use essential oils on children under 6, even mixed into neutral oils, bath water or lotions as they can cause allergic reactions

Can you put fragrance oils in baths just as you can essential oils?

of course you can.....just don't expect anything other than nicely scented water

Neither essential or fragrance oils have any magical healing properties, but a long soak in an hot tub with perfumed water is bound to make you more relaxed, less stressed.

the guy above me's wrong...essential oils have numerous healing properties and have been used for thousands of years. But hes right about fragrance oils doing nothing. I wouldn't put them in your bath at all, you may get an allergic reaction, skin rash, itchiness etc.. they are used just for that 'fragrance' nothing else, and most are synthetic anyways and will just do much more harm than good
no they will irritate the skin it's the same as putting air freshner in your bath or floor cleaner they are meant to be used to give out a room fragrance not as skin fragrance.
    No, they are not interchangeable.

I like my natural, phosphate-free laundry liquid, which is free of dyes %26amp; perfumes. However, I would like a slight natural fragrance (perhaps lavender), but don't want to pay 3x the price for a specialty detergent. Others have fragrance oils in them, but the idea of adding oil to my laundry seems counter-productive. Is there any other natural way to add a scent to laundry detergent? (I'm thinking lavender water may work, but it's not that strong.)Has anyone added fragrance oils to natural, unscented laundry detergent?
If you don't want to put the oil in your wash cycle, try adding just a drop or two of a fragrant fabric softener. My sister does it sometimes for her work cloths (she's a physician) and her patients love the smell...

Put the softener in the WASH cycle and it will rinse out, just leaving a ';hint'; of fragrance...

My daughter also does this sometimes for the babies cloths...

    GOOD LUCK !!!

Where can I purchase ingredients for making a perfume like essential oils or fragrance oils?

    Keep in mind;

Essential oils are too strong to be applied directly to the skin. They need to be diluted with a carrier oil - sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil or grape seed oil...

They are highly concentrated and a little goes a very long way.

Purified water, Caprylic capric Triglyceride, *hi-oleic safflower oil, *aloe vera, *calendula, *yucca, *cactus, *acacia, *irish moss, Vit. E, ), phospholipid (emollient, coconut source), polyaminopropyl biguanide (extremely mild antimicrobial; no formaldehyde or formaldehyde donors, non-solvent and non-genotoxic). No parabens, sodium benzoate, benzoic acid, benzyl alcohol or phenoxyethanol. No fragrance or scent-masking agents.

PS. You may also want to avoid Methylparaben, Polypraben, and like ingredients which also can cause skin sensitivies. Read the labels - even the natural brands...you'll be amazed at how many brands contain those ingredients....Any body lotion free of mineral oil and fragrance?

I love burning oils to give a nice scent in my home - I've found it's the best in comparison to candles and plug-ins.

I smelled many of the ones at the body shop and purchased ';Oceanus'; with the blue label.

I also have Green Tea, Lemon Sage, and Passionfruit. I'm looking for others. They dont have to be from the body shop.

I want something that smells fresh and clean! I also want one for fall, but no cinnamon and nothing too overpowering please.

Please help!! Where can I find good oils??

Thanks!!Recommend a good aromatherapy / home fragrance oil?
Bath and Body also has oils but they mostly smell like the fragrances they carry. I know that they have a calming line, the have like vanilla chamomile and lavender. I have heard that they are coming out with the oils to these fragrances but not sure when. Let me know if you find a good one. I really like the green tea one. I like the strong ones too, though. Strawberry and Satsuma, mmmm.Recommend a good aromatherapy / home fragrance oil?
If you can get hold of some basil, either sacred basil or sweet basil, the aroma promotes a sense of well-being and relaxation, along with cleansing the entire respiratory tract. Also, you can bathe in it to get double the benefits.

Have you tried lavender oil? I love it, but I usually diffuse it with water or some unscented wax because it can be strong. Some oils have an igniting temperature so you have to be careful.

Finding them is another story. The best place is online if you want a deal and some variety. I don't know which town you are in, but sometimes candle shops and health food stores carry essential oils.

Hope I helped! Have a great evening. :-)
Whole Foods has a good oil section in their stores if there is one nearby.

Some are quite reasonable ($3) and some can be expensive! look at the prices.

Wyndmere Naturals has good oils as is online, you can google for them.

I have bought from them. If you called them they'd probably make some good suggestions.

To me, orange, lemon, pettigrain, lavender, grapefruit smell fresh and clean.

not what sure u mean by burning, be careful with the oils, don't set them on fire, only boil them or diffuse them

Help cleaning leather couch - fragrance oil spilled!?

You know those fragrance oil vases that have the sticks coming out of them? Well sometime overnight a few nights ago, one of those vases 'mysteriously' spilt and didn't get cleaned up (soaked in the furniture all night).

Not only did the spilt oil take the a good chunk of finish off my end table, but some it dripped onto the side of my leather sofa. I first started to rub the couch with a wet rag and noticed that the black leather was actually ';melting off';. I haven't touched it since b/c any time I do more black comes off. BUT I would like to clean it before any more damage is done.

Any ideas?Help cleaning leather couch - fragrance oil spilled!?
The problem is that the oil has damaged the surface finish on your leather and is removing the top coat. It is not the leather itself but the finish that you can see coming off.

If the problem is getting worse even with a damp cloth then anything else is not going to resolve the problem other than getting it looked at professionally.

If you are in the UK you can send us a photo and we will analyse the situation and advise accordingly.

Otherwise it would be best to get a qualified technician out as any household remedies could make it very costly to fix.

Hope we can helpHelp cleaning leather couch - fragrance oil spilled!?
Use Dawn dish liquid to clean off the oil.
i would get a good leather cleaner..whether it be a wipe or cream and try that..you may after trying one of those ..need to consult a dry cleaner...you may find they have something to help or tell you what to do too it

  • Why is my fragrance oil sinking to the bottom of the warming dish?

I have a fragrance-oil burner, where you put the water and the oil in the dish on top then put a candle under it. Like this one:

    http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/product/鈥?/a>

Anyway, so I filled the dish with water and put some drops of oil in it, and the oil sank to the bottom of the dish! This is the first time I've had this happen. The oil is supposed to float on top of the water, but I don't know what is causing it to sink. Is it expired or something? Why is my fragrance oil sinking to the bottom of the warming dish?
No its not expired but I would say that use less water and more oil, better still get a fragrant candle on top and use a tea light down the bottom because they really last much longer and permeate the house quicker the store I buy from is called Dusk, dont know if you have a store like that but they really are worth the money! :)

Can I use any fragrance oils to scent mineral oil?

I really don't like the smell of baby oil and would like to scent some plain mineral oil. What scents are best? Perfume, fragrance?

(Don't bother telling me mineral oil is bad and causes cancer or any other ';green'; nonsense. I've been using mineral and vaseline my entire 46 years. I have strangers tell me my skin is amazing and I look in my 30's) Can I use any fragrance oils to scent mineral oil?
    Try:

lavender oil, ylang ylang, geranium, euchalyptus, and/ or chamomile essential oils. It all comes to personal preference to which ones you like. Also, different oils have different properties - some can even be soothing, some can be antiseptic, some may even help dry (or oily) skin.

Also note that some people may have allergic reactions to some oils; I recommend looking at my source website for more information.

    I hope this helps!

[=Can I use any fragrance oils to scent mineral oil?
You obviously already know how bad mineral oil is because you mentioned it but for others who read this here is an education. You can read this information on the Material Safety Data Sheet for this substance.

Mineral oil or liquid petrolatum is a by-product in the distillation of petroleum to produce gasoline.

It coats the skin like plastic, clogging the pores. Interferes with skin's ability to eliminate toxins, promoting acne and other disorders. Slows down skin function and cell development, resulting in premature aging. Used in many products (baby oil is 100% mineral oil!) Any mineral oil derivative can be contaminated with cancer causing PAH's (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons). Manufacturers use petrolatum because it is unbelievably cheap.

I have been using oils to scent all kinds of oils for years, I even mix scented oils for my own scents that no one else can duplicate.

To answer your question, of course you can. People have been doing that for ages.

I cant imagine why you used this forum to ask that question, anyone that has used mineral oil on their skin for years, it would seem to me, would automatically experiment.

What do you think works better for your home candles reed diffusers or fragrance oils? what's your favorite?

both smell nice, but just a heads up: diffused oil slowly coats the inside of your lungs, and may cause problems, so if u use it, make sure u r not around, or the room is well ventilated. candles do the same, but to a lesser extentWhat do you think works better for your home candles reed diffusers or fragrance oils? what's your favorite?

Honestly: go to circleecandles.com and you will never buy anything else for you home! These candles are unbelievable!!! For HOURS my house smells like an apple strudel!

The reed diffusers are a rip off and the frangrance oils only last a short time.
I have both reed diffusers and oil fragrances. I can not even spell the reed diffusers. I use the Glad Plug-In oils with the fan built-in. Those are the only things that fill my house will a fragrance and I have a large home. I also have used the simmering pots with fragrance and they work well, however, they seem to go very fast and I have to buy more of the liquid. I would go with the Glad Fan Plug-Ins. They have a ton of scents out there. Cheaper than something like the Yankee Candle scents also. I am presently using the new scent from Glad called, ';Candy Cane'; for the holidays. I also love the apple spice scent and vanilla.

Mix linseed oil & fragrance oil?

Since oil plus an oil is just ok, can i mix these 2?.

fragrance oil, i believe, will be diluted in the linseed oil. is it just fine?.. i am making an oil paint, and i want it to be so unique, that's why i am putting a scent..

the question is.. can i add the 2 together.. or i'll just add the fragrance oil..during the oil-paint process..(meaning i did not the 2 oils together...i put them in the oil paint mixture separately)

im damn confused!Mix linseed oil %26amp; fragrance oil?
that's a cool idea, they should mix fine, although the fragrance will probably be cut down a little. But eventually, the volatile things in the fragrance oil that you can smell will probably evaporate away. Just think of it as testing an art technique, not a chemistry experiment and it won't be intimidating at all.

  • 1 lb melted soy wax + 1 oz of fragrance oil = 16oz Mason jar candle?? Is this correct?

It's definitely 1 oz by weight of fragrance to 16 oz by weight of soy wax. The Mason jar is 16 oz by VOLUME, not weight, but the wax+fragrance mixture should all fit.

    HOW TO MAKE fragrance oil?

How is fragrance oil madeHOW TO MAKE fragrance oil?
normally no company will tell you how.... its a SECRET... shhhhhhhhhhhhHOW TO MAKE fragrance oil?
1)Choose a base oil. This is your own personal preference. You can use jojoba oil which is really good for your skin. You can use grapeseed oil which is high in antioxidants. Arnica oil is great for aches, pains and bruises. Vegetable oils such as safflower or rice bran cost very little money.

Step2)Select a concentrated scented oil at your favorite health food store. Choose a fragrance that appeals to your senses.

Step3)Find or buy an attractive dark glass bottle with a tight cap that will protect your fragrance.

Step4)Funnel your base oil into the bottle.

Step5)Drop the scented oil into the base oil one drop at a time. You can gauge the scent of your fragrance by letting it sit for several hours between each drop. Rub a little on your skin to test how strong it is before you add another drop.

Step6)After you have reached the desired strength for your fragrance, tighten the cap. Store in a dark place for at least 3 days. This will allow your fragrance to come to its full potential. In the meantime, think of a name for your own personal perfume
By using an un-perfumed oil mixed with 2 drops of scent, buy the oil %26amp; scent from Culpeppers shops, or from Neals Yard (London). Both on-line.

Put a drop or two on a lightbulb and turn on the lamp for 10 minutes or so in each room you want to smell fresh. How can I freshen up my home with fragrance oils without using them in candles?
Use oil or tart warmers- they sell them absolutely everywhere now! Or if you have a candle warmer you can put some of the oil in a heat tolerant bowl or on a plate and put that on the candle warmer. Coffee cup would be good for this, too! Oh, just thought of this! Dilute the oil in some water and put it on the stove on low heat and a pot! My grandmother did this all the time!
I use Japanese Shinto incense. They're not at all like the new age incense sold in Whole Foods or other big name stores.

Also, it's nice to simmer grapefruit and orange peels with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and allspice to make your kitchen and surrounding rooms smell fresh and homey.
I'd say, wipe some on your light bulbs, but you said they're coming during the day. I have a real small, electric fondue pot that came along with a crock pot I bought. I have no use for it other than burning my scented oils in it! Just be sure not to let the level get too low, or it'll scorch. I actually set a timer to remind me to either add more oil or unplug it altogether.

  • Mixing beeswax and fragrance oil into a metal container, it discolors to a rust color but it isn't rust. ???

It is not just vanilla, all scents do the same. It does not happen in plastic jars. I thought it may be the poor seal of the metal containers but if you leave a plastic jar open or loosely capped, it does not discolor.Mixing beeswax and fragrance oil into a metal container, it discolors to a rust color but it isn't rust. ???
There are some pretty corrosive chemical reactions that may occur when you mix beeswax with oils in metal containers, depending on the metal the container is made from. I would suggest that you stick to the plastic jars. Plastic will absorb some of the odors more readily, however metals could not only change the scent you are trying to mix but may cause some corrosive byproducts that could be harmful to skin.

Is there a difference between home fragrance oils and essential oils?

im making something and essential oils are one of the main ingredients and i cant find any essential oils but i can find home fragrance. also the thing im making if i mess up it could be dangerous! :) :) thanxIs there a difference between home fragrance oils and essential oils?
Yes, there is a huge difference. Home Fragrance Oils are synthetic, essential oils extracted from plant materials primarily through steam distillation.

Synthetic fragrances are responsible for a myriad of problems, they disrupt the endocrine system, cancers and persist in the environment. There is plenty of information available on their evils for the interested consumer.

Essential oils do have their own hazards. Please educate yourself on the indications and contraindications of each oil before use.

Essential oils are becoming more mainstream and are available in many retail stores as well as online.

How to blend fragrance oils in candle making..?

Hi, I have been making candles for a few years but have never experimented with blending fragrance oils. How do you start? Do you start with only combining drops at a time, or measure in ounces? I will probably want to make some in large quantities. Does the blend have to sit for a certain amount of time before you can use it in candles?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! How to blend fragrance oils in candle making..?
What works for me is to take a ziploc bag, put a few drops of fragrance on a cotton ball. Seal bag, write down the combination. Come back in a day or so and take a smell.

Are fragrance oils and essential oils the same?

I need to know if fragrance oils and essential oils are the same? Where is the cheapest place to get them? Are fragrance oils and essential oils the same?
No they are not the same. Essential oils are distilled from plants, usually flowers, but also citrus rinds and tree resins. They can be used as perfume but are more typically purchased for their medicinal effects. Fragrance oils can be anything that smells good. Most of them are synthetic chemical mixtures that mimic the real thing. Some of them, like Jasmine, may actually have up to 10% real Jasmine in them, but they do not have the therapeutic effect of essential oils.

Online, Lucky Vitamin has some discounted essential oils. But more important than price is quality. Make sure you buy a good brand. If it is Aura Cacia or Frontier brand, it doesn't matter much where you buy it. If it is a generic or ';house'; brand, you better know the supplier before you buy cheap. I like Mountain Rose herbs for discounted quality oils.

Note that some essential oils have a pretty short expiration date, especially citrus oils. Some tree resins actually get better with age, like patchouli. Are fragrance oils and essential oils the same?
I dunno, but you can get both at any health store

    Essential oil vs fragrance oil?

what is the difference between essential oil and fragrance oil? can both be burned? which retail store carries these products?

    ThanksEssential oil vs fragrance oil?
Regarding a retail store...I don't know where you are geographically and can't tell what you can find where. Fragrance oils can likely be found at a craft store while pure essential oils may be found at a health food store.

An essential oil is extracted from plant material usually using steam distillation. Fragrance oils are synthetic. Essential oils should not be burned. They are better diffused into the air with a diffusor or a duft-lamp. Fragrance oils would likely have directions for use on the bottle or accompanying literature.Essential oil vs fragrance oil?
fragrance oils are not recommended to burn in an oil burner because they will smoke. essential oils don't smoke when on an oil burner if they are pure essential oils.

I know that ';Silky Scents'; has essential oils %26amp; organic essential oils, and they have a free recipe section. You'll probably be able to find all the information there. Plus they have the pictures of each plant. You can google their name to find them online. they sell both fragrance and essential oils.

  • Can I use home fragrance oils in homemade candles?

I am wondering if I can use the fragrance oils a place like Bath and Body Works sells (for use on light bulbs and oil warmers) to scent my own candles. Can I use home fragrance oils in homemade candles?
No. You have to make sure that the scents you use are made for candles. By using a scent that isn't intended for wax,you could be creating a dangerous situation. By making a candle using scents that aren't intended for making candles, the candle could flare up out of control and cause a fire. if you're looking for scents similar to Bath and Body,or other designer scents like Victoria's Secret,I would highly recommend checking out www.rusticescentuals.com

I've been buying my scents from Amy for years. They are high quality scents, and I've never been disappointed with a single one. Rustic Escentuals even sells a one ounce bottle so you can sample their scents or if you don't need a larger bottle. They ship very fast. Check it out. I think you would be glad you did.Can I use home fragrance oils in homemade candles?
I am a candle maker and I really am not familiar with their oils to say whether you could or not. But the cost to do so would be to high. I buy all of my scents from www.cajuncandles.com and I can guarantee you won't be disappointed in their oils. I also sell the oils to be used in lamp rings or oil lamps and it doesn't take much only a few drops. So to say you couldn't use them I really don't know but I wouldn't not knowing what type of oils they are.
Fragrance oils are not strong enough to use in candles. Also, if there is any water in the mixture, it will sputter and cause the candle wax to spatter.

Better to use dyes and fragrances specifically formulated for candle making.

I am making a hair grease using virgin olive oil and shea butter, I add my own fragrance.?

What ingredients do I put in to make it remain of a stable texture like petroleum jelly against heat and cold. Or there emulsifiers for this?I am making a hair grease using virgin olive oil and shea butter, I add my own fragrance.?
you could use cornstarch but you want things that would help the hair.

you could even try petroleum jelly..it has nutrients that are good for the hair.

you could also try honey(it adds shine), mayonnaise(binds split ends) or eggs lol..sounds a little crazy but im just throwing ideas out there!I am making a hair grease using virgin olive oil and shea butter, I add my own fragrance.?
you can buy uncolored and unscented hair product bases online to just add your own ingredients to, seems like you would have to use a lot more of something solid with a little bit of the liquids to get them to that texture.

Excellent idea and Saturday markets in the summer.

You might develop a website to sell online or have a printed catalog to hand out to customers that might reorder.I sell incense, candles, fragrance oil %26amp; the like. I've always been interested...?
Starting out at the flea market sounds like a pretty good idea-- as long as you're O.K. with selling your products for a low price, at least at first. People going to flea markets are looking for bargains-- don't forget that.

Personally, I think you should test the waters with Ebay. Things like that are so expensive in the stores that a lot of people look for them on Ebay.

Plus, Ebay is completely safe and has very small fees to sell. I'd check it out, if you haven't already. Also, do a search for the products you're looking to sell and see if other people are having success with them.

    Good luck!
Yes - local markets are a good strategy, but you'll have to be willing to commit your free time.

You could use a double edge strategy, start working on your own e-business website, and then advertise the site when you go tp weekend markets. This way you'd be advertising the online business, while also making money offline.

Look at the ';e-Business'; page on the following site, for a great way to develop your own website. It has specific links for local businesses and the web as well.

What scents can be used in candles outside of fragrance oils?

Can products be purchased say from Walmart to scent candles and if so what are the products. What scents can be used in candles outside of fragrance oils?
No you can't use those scents. To have a candle that would have a strong scent you would have to add more than the recommended amount and then it wouldn't burn properly. I have heard that Jo-anne's or Michaels carry them but I usually purchase from a candle supplier so I don't know about those places. You can order some great oils at www.cajuncandles.com they are some of the best on the market. There are a lot of online stores that sell fragrance oils. What scents can be used in candles outside of fragrance oils?
u can not use those scents use only fragrance............
No. Only use fragrances that are developed for use in candles. Some of the scents at Walmart, etc. may have a low flash point due to things like alcohol or other spirits that are used to enhance the scent.

I recommend stores that sell candle supplies. A good one for both supplies and information is

Does anyone know how to make your own fragrance oils for candles?

I need to know how to best extract fragrances from things like trees and plants. With it, I will need to know the specific equipment required, if anything specific.Does anyone know how to make your own fragrance oils for candles?
First off you could not grow enough plants unless you have several acres to grow a plant you want to extract. Because you need pounds of it just to get the oil extracted from the plant itself, and you need a distill set up for it. It's a very large scale operation. That is why its so expensive if you have looked at price list.

Your best bet is just to buy essential oils , try mountain rose herb they sell larger bottles of essential oils at a pretty good price.

If so, what do you mix with the drops of fragrance oil?

.Do you use fragrance oils in a warmer to scent your home?
Olive oil is what I use with my essential oils and fragrance oils.

Other oils seem more tacky during clean-up.

Mixing is trial and error with amount of scent needed for time and space you are scenting.

Average need is 15-20 drops according to the note quality and personal sensitivity.

Essential oils however may require differnt amounts according to note quality.

    Hint:

Consider spattering and protect walls and wood finishes.

EnjoyDo you use fragrance oils in a warmer to scent your home?
Don't mix the oil with anything. Just put a few drops in at first. Then you can get a feel for how long it will last, and how strong it will smell. If you have the burner in a small room, you don't want the scent too strong. Just trial and error. I use wax melts mostly, instead of oil.

Check your local paper or yellow pages, there are specialists who repair plastics on cars. Much cheaper than a new dash.

always read the smelly thing instructions.Plug in fragrance oil leak on to dash and burned into it can it be replaced?
    sure you can get refils
Oh that's really bad. You should write and complain to the suppliers of the plug-in, they should be held responsible for faulty goods and should make things right by you. Or you could go to trading standards. Whatever you do check out your rights as a consumer before you hand over your hard earned cash. This air freshener was obviously faulty so I think the supplier is responsible for payment to put things right again before you go any further. Good luck!
If you can find a replacement dashboard, you can replace them. Sorry to hear about your dash, I've also heard that the simmering potpourri stuff is toxic and to beware of cats spilling it on themselves, licking it and then dying.
I would sue the manufacturers and give them the option of replcing the dash, if you do it there position could be that their position has been prejudiced, obviously keep the bottle

Perfume Oil - This is pure essential (or fragrance) oils and is very strong.

Parfum - It contains about 20% aromatic compounds.

Eau de Parfum - This contains about 15% aromatic compounds.

Eau de Toilette - This contains about 10% aromatic compounds.

Eau de Cologne - This contains about 5% aromatic compounds.

How do you make fragrance oils for warmers/burners?

I've seen tons of places online selling fragrance oils that they apparently make themselves, but I can't seem to find any recipes anywhere. I'm just a do-it-myself kind of person and I think it could be a cool hobby. How do you make fragrance oils for warmers/burners?
oils used in warmers %26amp; burners are diluted essential oils. Essential oils can be extracted through distillation, but it takes a great deal of plant matter to do this. Petals from hundreds of roses for a few drops of oil, a million jasmine flowers for the same. there is a book called the complete book of essential oils %26amp; aromatherapy by Valerie Worwood, that details out the process

    the book is available here:

    http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Book-Esse鈥?/a>

it's very time consuming, and expensive, but it is possible. How do you make fragrance oils for warmers/burners?
Basically, To create oils for wearing and burning in a burner you first have to purchase the oils in an Absolute form. Meaning the oil is in its purist form without any neutral oils. These can be rather expensive and hard to find. the Key term for search is Absolute ';insert type of herb, tree, plant ect..here'; when you purchase fragrant oils you are usually buying a pre blend of the absolute and another oil such as grapeseed, jojoba, hemp, hazlenut, ect. usu. light bodied oils with a very little or no scent of its own. For example When you might buy Patchouli you are buying about 4-10 drops of pure Patchouli in in about 40-60 drops of the neutral oil. and paying for the final scent..Most Absolutes are Incredibly strong. I had a small vial of Absolute Pachouli, the vial was about 1/2 inch tall not much more than 30 drops and it lasted me 2 yrs. All that was needed was a dot on a finger tip and it was enough. Disperse the base with a few drops of Hemp/jojoba blend and the scent on my body lasted all day..

Anyhow for a burner oil blend your Absolutes with the neutral oil at a ratio of about 1-2 drops to 8-10 or more of neutral oil, the amount to blend varies by the intensuty of the oil. Add a small amount of water to the burner..adding more water as it disperses into the room. Its as simple as that. Mind you, as I said the Absolutes can be very expensive, the vial of Patchouli I mention was a good deal at $20 you would drop your jaw at the price of rose oil..its something like 100 petals to get a single drop and a vial would be worth over $50.

I personally enjoy the Scents of Patchouli, Myrrh, Frankinscense, and Amber they blend very well together. After you buy some basic scents you will need to experiment to find what you like.. There is a whole new world before you to find the ways of working with oils and blending..This is just a basic lesson..

    Blessed Be.
You can purchase reasonably priced Fragrance Oils at Wellington Fragrance.com. You can even get small sample sizes which allow you to buy %26amp; try tons of different scents until you find your favorites. Wellington is my favorite place for FOs and their customer service is wonderful.

What's the best way of using fragrance oils to keep your house smelling great?

I just recently bought a simmering pot for fragrance oils and even though I'm getting great results from most of them, there are some that are too powerful and make my eyes and throat itch. I was wondering if I should be mixing these oils with some base oil or water or if there is an ideal way of preventing this from happening. What's the best way of using fragrance oils to keep your house smelling great?
I have a little holder that burns fragrant oil in the top when a tea light is lit under it. It is very strong, so I only use it once in a while and extinguish the candle when it gets too strong. I prefer burning incense, because it smells wonderful, the smell doesn't really linger, and it's never overpowering unless it's right in your face. Oh, I did mix fragrant oil with olive oil once. It did make it less potent. What's the best way of using fragrance oils to keep your house smelling great?
I use a candle warmer, which is an electrical base where you can sit jarred candles on. The smell is never over powering because I get soft scented candles. It only cost me 5.00 at Wal-Mart. Your candles last a long time. I think it is very economical. I never worry about it tipping over or getting over heated.
You can buy a metal light ring at Wal-mart in the craft area it goes on the top of a light bulb. Just add a small amount to the ring and turn the light on as long as you have oil in the ring you will have a great smell..

How do you make fragrance oils from flowers?

I have a bunch of wonderful dried lavendar and I want to make frangrance oils to use in my soaps and lotions with it. I just don't know how to make the oils. Thank you in advance for your help :)How do you make fragrance oils from flowers?
Hi, I am not sure if this will help but here goes... you can make heat-infused oils, which is done by simmering the herb in oil, olive oil, sunflower, almond, or other pure veg oil, useful for massage with cayenne, or hot spices etc... or a cold-infused oil, which extracts the active principle in flowers, olive oil is a good choice because it doesn't go rancid, I use lavender with the cold one, I put whatever I have dried herb, say 8 oz., or double that if it is fresh and I soak it in about 3 cups of oil, put them into a jar with a tight lid and shake well, put the jar in a warm sunny location and leave it for about six weeks, give it an occasional shake, I also sort of smash up the herbs abit, it infuses quicker, mortar and pestle works great,, when you have noticed that it has a much darker colour, put a jelly bag into a clean large jar, and wring out the bag to squeeze out the oils, put the oil into a sterilized jar, with a tight lid, and preferably a dark jar, if you want it stronger, do it again, but use the infused oils, and new herbs. It's nice, I grow a lavender plant, and use it and others I have in my herb garden, that I have grown on a balcony, I have a nice recipe for a skin lotion that is very nice, I make a very strong herbal tea, with lavender, or chamomile and use anywhere from 1/2 to a cup of glycerine and wisk them until they are creamy and smooth. Have lots of fun with it, I hope I have helped even a tiny bit.How do you make fragrance oils from flowers?
Wonderful, I am glad it has helped. Thankyou for the vote. Take care. Report Abuse

Unless you have acres of lavender planted you might want to forget about that project. You need a LOT of any herb to distill the oil.

Try using orris root as a stabilizer for the fragrance of your lavender (it also is a pleasant companion fragrance to lavender.) Just add that mix to your candles or soaps. Have fun and experiment!

You could also find bulk lavender online. No guarantee it will be fresh. You would still need to distill it. Check out the Foxfire books on how to make one of those!
Assuming you do not want to make essential oils....as the above lady said...about needing acres....I would take a clean jar with a lid and add your favorite carrier oil and fill jar up to a point...add any flowers you want and let this stew for months on a ledge...every time you walk by the jar shake it and shake it....After months strain the flowers out of the oil and add to whatever you wish...

What is the difference between using fragrance oils and?

essential oils when mixing/making a homemade cleaning solution? Will one keep the house smelling fresh longer? What is the difference between using fragrance oils and?
Pure essential oils are a natural product and contain no preservatives or additives. A few of them can also be quite dangerous if not handled correctly. Some basic procedures should therefore be observed in order to ensure safety but also the quality of the oils in storage.

Fragrance oils are blends of aroma components that are created to smell like the real thing. There is no need to combine with other scents to get truly rewarding results. Many fragrance oils are blended from essential oils, but because they are not guaranteed to be 100% essential oil they are called fragrance oils. All of our fragrance oils are cosmetic grade.

These links should help. What is the difference between using fragrance oils and?
Essential oils are all natural (pure if you will) and usually more concentrated than frangrance oils, which are man made. Essential oils reputedly have healing/restorative properties whereas fragrance oils don't. Essential oils are tipically more expensive than frangrance oils. As far as which will keep the house smelling fresh longer depends on factors like concentration, dispensing methods, ventilation, etc.

  • What is the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils?

It seems that there is a lot of questions about the difference. And I think all oils are used in incense anyway, right? What is the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils?
Essential Oils are the natural oils that may be used as fragrances (but not all of them have a strong fragrance).

Fragrance Oils may be natural Essential Oils, or they may be synthetic.

That's the main difference. What is the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils?
Essential oils are made by distilling plant parts, either the leaf, twig, root or flower. Citrus oils, sometimes called EOs, are actually made by squeezing the rind until the fragrant oil is collected.

Fragrance oils are made from petroleum extracts, from coal tar, in a laboratory. Sometimes a bit of EO is added for depth of scent.

Some incenses use EOs, some use FOs. If it's a fruity or ';theme'; scent like raspberry, rain, china musk, peach, it's probably a FO. EOs are more expensive than FOs, and their use in incense is limited. You'd have to ask the manufacturer if they use only EOs. EOs are used in home fragrance usually by having a tea light ';burner'; or an air diffuser with a pad that gets a few drops of the oil placed on it and the air blows the fragrance out into the room. This gives a very clear, clean scent with no smokey scent.

EOs never turn into fragrance oils, two completely different things. You should only buy EOs from trusted suppliers that list common name, botanical name, country of origin, and other important information, like safety data, or have the extra information like safety data on their website. Don't trust most of the health food store EOs, they've sat on the shelf a long time under poor storage conditions. You can find out more about good supplies at the groups listed.
Essential oil IS the plant. In other words, the plant is processed and oil is extracted. Fragrance oil is more like perfume. Essential oils have lots of beneficial properties, including being antibacterial. Either can be used in incense - its just a difference in quality. (Essential oils would make better incense, IMO)
I think Anda answered it best, but Essential Oils can turn into Fragrance Oils if they are kept too long, the older they are the less benefits they hold, then just becoming a scent.
Pure essential oils are natural and some are even edible. Fragrance oils are made of petrolatum a close brother of petroleum and both are very unsafe. Fragrance oils were created to fake the smell of certain items. Like strawberry, you can squeeze it as much as you want but you won't get the scent of a strawberry so they have fake fragrance oils. All perfume you buy has fragrance oil in it and t may say it has the scent of natural jasmine but it's really a chemical/synthetic makeup of the scent.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fragrance_o鈥?/a>

If you have anymore questions email me.

    Hope this helps!!!
Essential oils are derivatives of plant material, not synthetic. Fragrance oils are synthetic chemical compounds created to mimic a smell. Essential oils are almost never labeled as fragrance oils, simply because one can charge more for an essential oil than for a fragrance oil.

Some incense is made with essential oils, but most are made with fragrance oils. Fragrance oils tend to resist fading in long-term storage and are not as sensitive to heat and cold.

What type of fragrance oils are safe for candles?

I am new to candlemaking and want to purchase some fragrance oils for differing scents. Which ones are safe? Why? Please don't tell me about all the websites out there I can buy them from. There are places here locally that sell cheap. I just want to understand so I know what to look for when I'm out shopping.

Thanks in Advance! What type of fragrance oils are safe for candles?
If you are shopping locally (like at craft stores), read the labels on the bottles as guide. Some oils are only appropriate for certain waxes, so it depends on what kind of candles you are making. The labels usually have information like ';skin safe, paraffin safe, NOT gel safe'; etc. Certain oils bind with certain waxes - so some people have great success with essential oils while others don't. I guess that means I can't give you a complete answer because I don't know what type of candles you are making, but hopefully that helps some. Good luck!

    Dropped fragrance oil on carpet?

A couple of days ago I spilled fragrance oil on my carpet. I noticed that the carpet actually kind of uprooted from the floor. Where I spilled the oil, a part of the carpet is sticking up, unlike the rest of it. Why would it do this? And how can I fix it?Dropped fragrance oil on carpet?
Here is a site that I would highly recommend. They have very high quality stain removal techniques. I would suggest repeating the process after the first application, and rinsing the rug out with cool water in between applications. Best of luck!Dropped fragrance oil on carpet?
The oil has dissolved the glue in the carpet or has softened the jute backing. The only way to fix it is to use a solvent such as turpentine or mineral spirits to get up the oil and then to reglue the carpet here it has bubbled. To do this, you need some carpet glue and a carpet glue ';syringe'; that you inject the glue through the carpet and press it back into position.

    How are fragrance oil made?

Vapor distillation is the method used, in which the orange peels or rose petals or whatever you are using is heated without causing the orange peels to burn.

    good luck!!

Diffuser oil is strong, can a person take the fragrance less strong?

Daughter bought me Vanilla Lime diffuser oil with reeds and the fragrance is way too strong! It needs to be lessened somehow as allergies are acting up now. Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you.Diffuser oil is strong, can a person take the fragrance less strong?
Depends on how you use it, there are scented candles that you heat up and use a small candle underneath it, if its that sort, just add a bit more wax to the scented candle, if its an actual oil, you can dilute it with a bit of oil or even water, I have done both, and this has helped to reduce the strength of the scent, hope this helps, goodluck!

Does setting a low fragrance level on a Glade Scented Oil Warmer make the fragrance last longer?

I just bought a Glade Scented Oil Warmer. I love the scent, and I would keep the fragrance level on the strongest, number five, but I want it to last as long as possible. If I set the fragrance level on number one, will the fragrance last longer, or will it just collect inside the warmer?Does setting a low fragrance level on a Glade Scented Oil Warmer make the fragrance last longer?
I tried the very same thing. It seems as if it last just the same. Only the fragrance is just not as strong. I finally settled on a number 3. Use one on 5 and then use one on the lowest setting and see for yourself. Good Luck. Oh yea, don't you just love these things?Does setting a low fragrance level on a Glade Scented Oil Warmer make the fragrance last longer?
I've set the level on 1 and I've set the level on 5 and they both lasted the same amount of time....not long enough.

Doesn't seem to make a difference. I think the levels are there just you so can adjust how much you want to smell...not how long the plug in will last.
    try it and find out.

How do i remove oil from a home fragrance plug-in from my hands?

Oil from a ';Scentport'; spilled on my counter over night, and i cleaned it up with a paper towel not knowing what it was. Now I can't get the smell off my hands, the intensity of it is making me nauseous and giving me a severe headache. How do i remove oil from a home fragrance plug-in from my hands?
Eww, I've done that, too. I know exactly what you mean. I sprinkle some salt in my hand and mix it with liquid hand soap and scrub my hands (carefully). For some reason, the salt tames down the smell, and leaves your hands feeling oh so soft! It doesn't get rid of the smell entirely, but it will help. In my experience, it only lasted a few hours and several hand washes. Good luck! How do i remove oil from a home fragrance plug-in from my hands?
Don't worry about it much just get some fresh air and the smell will go away in less than a day or two. The skin on your hands should be fine and your natural shedding of skin will dissipate the smell in due time.
Try nail polish remover, rubbing alcohol, and/or Goo Gone. One of those should work. Then scrub your hands with a nail brush.
make a paste of kosher salt %26amp; lemon juice. Scrub hard and leave it on for 30 minutes. Rinse and squeeze lemon on it again.
have you tried 'Dawn' dish soap?

If not, I would try that.
